The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the admit card for the Combined Geo Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2023 on its official website upsconline.nic.in. The candidates who have applied for the exam can download their admit card by entering their registration number or roll number and date of birth. The admit card will contain important details such as exam date, time, venue, instructions etc. The candidates are advised to check their admit card carefully and report any discrepancy to the UPSC immediately.
The UPSC Combined Geo Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2023 is scheduled to be held on February 18, 2024. The exam will consist of two objective type papers: Paper I (General Studies) and Paper II (Chemistry/Geology/Geophysics/Hydrogeology).
The exam will be conducted in two shifts: morning shift from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and afternoon shift from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The candidates will have to appear for the paper according to their respective stream. The exam will be of 400 marks and there will be negative marking of one-third for each wrong answer.
The UPSC Combined Geo Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2023 is the first stage of the selection process for the posts of Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and Scientist in the Geological Survey of India and the Central Ground Water Board.
The candidates who qualify the prelims exam will be eligible to appear for the main exam, which will be held on June 24, 25 and 26, 2024. The main exam will consist of three descriptive type papers of 200 marks each. The candidates who qualify the main exam will be called for the personality test/interview, which will be of 200 marks.
The UPSC has notified a total of 56 vacancies for the Combined Geo Scientist Examination, 2023. The candidates can check the eligibility criteria, syllabus, exam pattern, cut-off marks, answer key, result and other details on the UPSC website upsc.gov.in.
