Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is one of the most prestigious universities in India, offering various courses and programs at different levels. If you are interested in getting admission to these schools, you need to appear for the BHU School Entrance Test (SET) 2024, which is a common entrance exam for all the classes and streams. The SET 2024 is expected to be conducted from 29 April 2024 to 03 May 2024 at various centres across the country.
The online application process for the SET 2024 has started from 20 February 2024 and will end on 20 March 2024. The admit cards for the exam will be released on 11 April 2024 and the results will be declared on 05 June 2024.

Application Process for BHU SET 2024
The application process for the BHU SET 2024 is completely online and can be done through the official website of BHU www.bhuonline.in. The candidates need to register themselves on the website and fill the online application form with the required details and documents. The candidates also need to pay the application fee online through debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI. The candidates can also make corrections in their application form from 21 to 27 March 2024, if needed.
The candidates should keep the following documents ready before applying for the BHU SET 2024:
- A valid email ID and mobile number.
- A scanned passport size photograph (size: 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm, format: JPG, resolution: 100 dpi, file size: less than 100 KB)
- A scanned signature (size: 4.5 cm x 1.5 cm, format: JPG, resolution: 100 dpi, file size: less than 100 KB)
- A scanned copy of the mark sheet of the qualifying examination (format: PDF, file size: less than 300 KB)
- A scanned copy of the caste certificate, if applicable (format: PDF, file size: less than 300 KB)
- A scanned copy of the disability certificate, if applicable (format: PDF, file size: less than 300 KB)
Exam Pattern and Syllabus for BHU SET 2024
The BHU SET 2024 will be conducted in offline mode – pen and paper based test. The exam will consist of multiple choice questions (MCQs) based on the syllabus of the previous class. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours for class 6 and 9 and 2.5 hours for class 11. The medium of the exam will be English and Hindi, except for the language subjects.
The exam pattern and syllabus for different classes and streams are given below:
- LKG, Nursery, Class 1: 100 questions covering General Knowledge, English, Hindi, Math and Environmental Studies. 1 mark per question, no negative marking.
- Class 6 & Class 9: 100 questions on English, Hindi, Math, Social Science and General Science. 3 marks per question, -1 mark for wrong answers.
- Class 11 Math Stream: 100 questions on Physics, Chemistry, Math and General Studies. 3 marks per question, -1 mark for wrong answers.
- Class 11 Biology Stream: 100 questions on Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Studies. 3 marks per question, -1 mark for wrong answers.
- Class 11 Commerce Stream: 100 questions on Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Financial Markets Management and General Studies. 3 marks per question, -1 mark for wrong answers.
- Class 11 Arts Stream: 100 questions on History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Home Science, General Studies and a language. 3 marks per question, -1 mark for wrong answers.
